TUSTIN, Calif., March 31, 2021 – Families Together of Orange County Community Health Center (FTOC) is proud to announce that it has now reached an impressive milestone of administering more than 20,000 vaccines, making it among the top 10 providers of vaccines in Orange County as well as the top community clinic administering vaccines in the County.
The announcement comes three months after the COVID-19 vaccine program began at the community clinic where it started off averaging less than 100 vaccines a day. It has now reached an average of 587 vaccines a day.
The non-profit has increased its capacity and effectiveness at administering vaccines by 487% in the last three months. This impressive feat did not come without obstacles, however. But with the community health center’s proximity to some of the most impacted zip codes in Orange County, FTOC made sure to always find a way to keep moving forward and is now sending out mobile units to help bring vaccines directly to the community. Chief Executive Officer at FTOC, Alexander Rossel, said:
“It’s been an uphill battle throughout the entire pandemic, but we’re proud to have reached this incredible milestone for our vaccination program and our community. When we first started administering vaccines, we never dreamed we’d be able to help as many people as we have. Our relationship with our patients, and our commitment to keep giving back to the community is what drove us to keep adapting and keep pushing, regardless of what lied ahead.”
In partnership with the city of Tustin, the County of Orange and the Coalition of Orange County Community Health Centers, FTOC has played a significant role in the vaccine rollout in Orange County as the community clinic that has administered the most vaccines in the County to date. Isabel Becerra, President & CEO of the Coalition of Orange County Community Health Centers says:
“Due to our mission and purpose, community health centers have significantly stepped up to the plate in response to the many facets of challenges that COVID-19 presented to our most vulnerable communities. This has included the need for mass testing, isolation resources including food and housing, treatment and now vaccinations . FTOC has led the way in both volume and strategic reach of disproportionately impacted residents both at their medical facility and via mobile pods in hard to reach areas using their licensed mobile health unit.”
In line with Governor Newsom’s announcement stating that all adults will be eligible for vaccinations from April 15, Families Together is now scheduling April appointments for all adult residents of Orange County. Appointments are available from April 1 for adults 50 years and older, and appointments are available from April 15 for anyone 16 years or older. Vaccines are by appointment only, and can be made by calling the vaccine hotline at 714-332-6367. Appointments are available Monday-Friday from 9AM to 5PM.
