Families Together of Orange County is a nonprofit community health center that’s been helping underserved communities gain access to healthcare since its founding in 2003. For the past 20 years, Families Together has served those who are insured, underinsured, or otherwise lack access to essential healthcare.
Having access to medical providers is important, but Families Together believes that’s only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to taking charge of one’s health. We want our patients to know that we care about their overall wellbeing too. This is why we offer a myriad of classes and resources to help our patients achieve a healthy lifestyle and prevent serious illnesses before they can occur.
Food Pantry and Monthly Farmer’s Market
One of the biggest public health concerns is food insecurity. It’s difficult to consider maintaining a healthy diet when having to worry about whether or not food will be on the table at all. Through various partners and community donations, Families Together offers a food pantry with fresh, high quality food available to all patients. We also host a monthly farmer’s market in the parking lot of our Tustin location. Patients can stop by for fresh produce and related food items at no cost. It is our hope that we can help alleviate some of the stress that comes from not being able to afford food and help to treat the toll this takes on the physical and mental wellbeing of our patients.
Eating healthy is essential to overall health. Your diet can affect every other aspect of your life, so it’s important to try to maintain a well-balanced, nutritional diet. However, many people lack the necessary education to be able to eat healthy. Families Together is dedicated to providing nutritional guidance and resources to all patients who are looking to learn how to maintain good nutritional health. Our nutritionists provide guidance, one-on-one consultations, and affordable nutritious recipes all for the benefit of our patients.
Strength and Weight Resistance Training
While everyone knows that a healthy lifestyle requires frequent exercise, many people lack the time, knowledge, equipment and motivation to maintain an exercise routine. Families Together is dedicated to helping patients take charge of their health by providing access to benefits that seem out of their reach. Which is why we offer strength and weight resistance training led by our Weight Resistance Trainer, Christopher Henderson as well as high-quality equipment to help patients achieve their workout goals. We also offer innovative technology such as the InBody 270 body composition analyzer which provides detailed fitness assessments to help our patients keep track of their fitness results.
One of Families Together’s fundamental beliefs is that a proper education is the key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. One of the biggest issues many people face when it comes to eating healthy is a lack of culinary knowledge. Families Together addresses this issue by providing our patients with cooking classes for all ages and skill levels, led by our Nutritionist Roxanna Munoz. This class is offered to help patients learn useful tips on how to make delicious, well-balanced meals that will help them achieve a healthier lifestyle!
If you’re looking for a fun and healthy hobby to help your child become more active, you can try signing them up for Families Together’s karate classes for patients ranging between the ages of 3-17! The classes take place on Tuesdays and Saturdays and are a great after-school activity that will benefit your child’s physical health. Families Together even offers free transportation to the classes for families that need it.
Families Together is dedicated to providing high-quality medical services as well as resources that will help show our patients that achieving a healthy lifestyle is possible.
