La campaña Cuide su Corazón destaca la educación sobre la salud del corazón en honor al Mes Americano del Corazón

TUSTIN, Calif., February 1, 2023 – In honor of American Heart Month, Families Together of Orange County Community Health Center is launching a month-long campaign, Take Care of Your Heart, to help address the need in the community for heart health education and resources.

Families Together of Orange County serves more than 23,000 unique patients annually, of which more than 70% are Hispanic or Latino, and more than half reportedly earning an annual income of $20,000 or less. In a patient needs assessment conducted by the health center, the two top physical health conditions with patients were cited as high blood pressure and high cholesterol- two of the leading causes of heart disease.

The philosophy at Families Together places importance on preventative measures that give patients the tools to take control of their own health journey. With the Take Care of Your Heart campaign, Families Together will promote content on its website and social channels that highlights education, resources and tools that anyone in the community can use to stay informed, and ultimately raise awareness about the options available to them.

The focus on preventative measures is especially important for CEO of Families Together, Alexander Rossel, who has seen the results first-hand:

“Ten years ago, I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I was on the verge of potentially irreversible heart problems, and it took me close to two years to understand the full magnitude of these issues. Thankfully, I committed to learning about the ways that I could turn my health around with new lifestyle habits, and over time I was able to lower my blood pressure and cholesterol, which has maintained to this day. Our goal at Families Together is to give all patients education and resources to instill hope and confidence that they too can take charge of their health to produce positive outcomes for themselves and their families.”

Throughout the month of February, Families Together of Orange County will create blog posts, videos and social posts focusing on essential heart health education, as well as host an Instagram live cardio workout session. The campaign’s content will feature information on topics such as heart healthy foods, the differences in heart attack symptoms between men and women, a Wellness Journal that will help patients track their health and wellness journey at Families Together, and more.

As part of the Take Care of Your Heart campaign, Families Together will hold an Instagram Live workout event on Saturday, February 11 at 12 p.m. where the organization’s Weight Resistance Trainer, Chris Henderson, will lead a 30-minute cardio-focused workout session on the health center’s Instagram channel completely free of charge for all who participate.

The Take Care of Your Heart campaign can be followed from February 1 – February 28 on the Families Together website at www.familiestogetheroc.org or via the health center’s social channels including Facebook (@familiestogetheroc), Instagram (@familiestogetheroc), Twitter (@FTOCCommunity), and YouTube (@familiestogetheroc).
